The Muddy Dog™ designs and sells down dog duvets (beds) with chic, distinctive covers that provide comfort and warmth for dogs and stylish solutions that won't put the people who love them to sleep!
After cuddling up in our down duvets, our dogs are thrilled that they now have their very own! Our down dog duvets are ergonomically designed and our inserts filled with the finest hypoallergenic down blend found in luxurious human comforters, which, as a natural material, also helps to regulate the dog's body temperature. Certified to be free of all substances harmful to dogs and their families, our duvet insert fabrics are double-stitched, down-proof and certified Eco-friendly.
Our screen printed fabrics offer fresh and inspiring color palettes, adding dimension, texture, personality and warmth to any setting. We offer the sort of dressmaker details we expect from all our home accessories: Our seams are finished inside to prevent fraying. The gussets are lined for extra support. Our hidden heavy duty zippers are two way with two pulls. And the zipper is on the long side of the bed to make it easier to get the cover on and off.
The Dog On It™ slipcover provides a cozy way to keep our beds clean and fresh. Made of genuine Polartec®, this slipcover is fully elasticized around the bottom so it snugly covers the top and sides of the duvet like a fitted sheet. No more wrestling with covers - simply take the Dog On It™ off when it gets a bit dirty and throw it in the wash!
Tested by dogs of all ages that gravitate to them for their comfort and warmth, our duvets retail for $299-$499, our slipcovers for $59-$89.
We understand, appreciate and demand quality in our home, so our covers and inserts are made in Maine, a state renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship (as well as its incredible vacation homes). After all, it's all about Fine Living For Dogs™!
History
The original Muddy Dog™ duvet was designed to make our founder's beloved and very arthritic golden retriever comfortable. Tired of the constant laundering needed to keep her dirt-loving dog's bed clean, an easy-on, easy-off slipcover was developed.
Who We Are
Susan Dench is a seasoned marketing executive who has been cited by marketing guru, Seth Godin, for her outside-the-box business thinking. She lives in Falmouth, Maine with her family and pets in a fabulous 1920's house which is in a constant state of renovation. The Muddy Dog allows her to combine her love of dogs with her passion for interior design.
The Pet Market
According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, there are approximately 74.8 million dogs in the United States, with 39% of households owning at least one dog. Over the past 10 years, the amount of money that pet owners spent on their pets in the U.S. has almost doubled. For 2010, it is estimated that U.S. residents will spend over $50 billion on their pets.
